Restoration:
Recreating the Marvels of the Past

The main character of the story is a donor car. The restoration journey of a donor car, which is preparing to travel in modern times with inspiration from the past, begins with the first screw of the wrench or fillister head screwdriver in the hand of the master. The vehicle has now taken the first step in its second life to be disassembled down to the smallest screw and renewed based on the philosophy of ‘nut and bolt’. This step will always be based on the working principle standardized by Key Garage.
The chassis, which forms the basis of the vehicle, is sandblasted and prepared for measurements. To make it look like the first day, the damage caused in years must be identified. If any, the curvatures are corrected, then the rusted or damaged parts are renewed and gets ready for electrostatic painting. The aim is to give it the condition of the first day it come out the factory. Sometimes the resulting condition can be even better.
The chassis, which will be separated from the body for a while, is in the hands of the mechanics. All parts which have been disassembled and restored in experienced hands, will be combined with brand new parts and the power unit of the vehicle will be back on the chassis.
In our opinion, the body parts of the disassembled vehicle have now completed their lifecycle. Therefore, all body panels are renewed with new 1.5 mm aluminum panels. With the completion of the process in the mechanical workshop, the vehicle now begins to take shape again with new body panels. The silhouette of the iconic Land Rover is now beginning to form as body parts are aligned with millimeter adjustments.
The next step is painting. The body panels, which have been previously assembled, are disassembled again and prepared for painting. Then, each body part, which is painted one by one with our solution partner glasurit products, is now ready to be mounted on the chassis. At this stage, a completely new and factory-standard OEM electrical installation is installed on the car. New headlights, new signal lights, new taillights and more are some of the parts that draw power from this installation.
Now, our inhouse upholstery work takes the stage. The first thing we need to do is a good insulation. The wonderful insulation combination we created with Silent Coat and Basf Basotect are applied inside the vehicle…
After completing different stages of the restoration process one after the other, it’s time to do a quality check. This process, which starts with test drives, is carried out meticulously to ensure that the vehicle is delivered to its new owner with the highest standards. The resulting iconic vehicle of Key Garage, is ready for new adventures.
